On This Day in Steampunk History - March 9

Due to prototype workplace machines emplaced and successfully demonstrated by Professor von Tiktoffen, the Prussian government authorized a lowered work week for children of only 51 hours. Von Tiktoffen amusingly referred to his machines as "Clanks" due to the sound they made when you hit them with a hammer to get them started.

The lowered work schedule allowed the children to have sufficient leisure time to get a full 5 hours of sleep every night.
